On a METreat Retreat, the schedule allows time each day for our mums to sit down an having a go at various arts and crafts.
Activities on offer include (but aren't limited to):
Face painting
Glitter tattoos
Stone mandalas
Henna designs
Colouring books
Drawing
Also our mums can have a play around with gorgeous Jamberry nail wraps and polish.
Whilst this may not be everyone's cup of tea, it has been proven that being creative can benefit both the brain and mental health and can make you both a happier and healthier person.
Some benefits of tapping into your creative side can include:
Relieving stress
Bringing mental clarity
Helping you to feel calm
Encouraging creative thinking
Boosting self esteem
Providing a sense of accomplishment
Children often spend many hours a day tapping into their creative sides through play and organised art/craft activities. Whilst Mums might spend some time helping their children with their arts and craft activities, it is rare to find the time to sit down quietly and
devote some time specifically to this relaxing and beneficial activity.
Pablo Picasso summed it up perfectly when he said:
"Art washes from the soul the dust of everyday life”
And we mums know that there is plenty of dust in our everyday lives!!
