LOST YOUR FOCUS? 7 EASY WAYS TO GET BACK ON TRACK

In order to get things done, achieve greatness, move forward and see results in our lives - we need to have FOCUS.

After the long Australian summer holidays, many of us are just starting to get back into our normal routines. However, it seems that some of us are having a lot of trouble both getting and staying focused!

Being focused allows us to turn up for ourselves and realise our goals, which in turn gives us a sense of achievement and accomplishment. This helps us feel that we are not stagnating but moving forward in life.

Below are some tips for how to get your mojo back and focus better...

1. ESTABLISH ROUTINE

Create and commit to establishing some healthy habits first thing in the morning (we can give you some ideas!). This will clear your head, wake you up and energise your body. Make a schedule or a list of what your morning routine will include - this will help you hold yourself

accountable and create new healthy habits that last.

2. PUT YOUR PHONE DOWN!!

Our phones are a massive distraction and a huge culprit in making our attention scattered. If you're trying to focus on something, put your phone away, out of reach and out of sight. That way you'll be less tempted to get distracted by notifications, calls etc.

3. MEDITATE

Train your mind to focus better by doing the following breathing meditation. Close your eyes, watch your inhale and your exhale. Allow yourself to connect to your breathing. Watch the rhythm and texture of your breath. Start to count your breaths. See how high you can get before your mind wanders. Once you catch it, return to 1 and begin counting again. Start with a 5 minute meditation and slowly increase this to 20 mins.

4. CLEAR YOUR MIND

It's difficult to focus on anything when you have a head full of information and 'to do' lists. Write everything you need to do down onto a piece of paper (better than on a phone as this can lead to distraction!) See if you can bring some order to your list and work your way systematically through it. Making lists holds you accountable and can help clear your mind. It's better to have your 'to do' list written down, rather than it whirling around in your head!

5. CREATE A SPACE

Find a suitable place in your home or at work where you feel you can get focused. This should be somewhere neat and tidy where you have everything you need at hand so you can be your most efficient and productive. Remember that a cluttered space can lead to a cluttered mind, so spend some time getting this space decluttered for maximum effect.

4. TALK TO SOMEONE

Having a chat with a friend or a work colleague can help give you a sense of clarity. You can even book in for a a 1:1 coaching session (with Tanya or Vikki) to help you to get really focused on what in your life you are trying to achieve.

7. GOAL SETTING

Make sure that you set yourself clear, attainable goals for what you are working towards. These goals should be easy, achievable and measurable. Sit down and visualise achieving these goals. Having an image in your mind of what you are trying to achieve will help you to stay focused and propel you towards achieving you goals.
